GoCleanCo Spring and Fall Cleaning Challenges: How They Work
We’ve run a Cleaning Challenge every Spring and Fall for the past few years. I genuinely love this deep cleaning motivational reset, which allows you to enjoy the summer months or hunker down and hibernate for the winter in a fresh space.
Keeping up with the in-between cleans is much easier once you’ve deep-cleaned and freshened your whole house.
I wanted to break down the Challenge in case you are new here and need an explanation of how it works. I get so many questions about it every season, so I will lay it all out for you, including how to win the Grand Prize.
It’s easier than you think.
How it works:
This year we’ve broken the challenge into four weeks, tackling a different room/area of our homes each week. With the addition of a bonus week at the end to either catch up, or work on any extra spaces you might have. At the end of the challenge, you (should) have deep-cleaned your entire home, and you should feel better about where you live. Within each week, I have included helpful tips, links, and specific areas to focus your cleaning efforts.
Follow along on any of our platforms, and I will clean right beside you and cheer you on along the way. Do not hesitate to DM me with any questions; I try very hard to answer as many as possible daily. Share your cleaning wins if you have them! Take before and after pics and send them in so I can share them with the GoCleanCo community! (Please disclose “Permission to share” on any pics or videos you send in)
Before you begin:
Download the challenge from our website. We have it available prior to the official Spring Cleaning kick off so you can start purging or getting your supplies ready beforehand. Take inventory of your cleaning supplies before you buy a bunch of stuff, though. Now is the time to use up the dregs from the bottoms of the bottles.
Before you start, take a moment to sit down and make the challenge work for your life. Remember that this challenge is flexible, so it might be more efficient for you to push your outdoor week until later because you live in Alaska, and that is okay! Use the bonus week and fill in any rooms or areas that we haven’t covered.
It is essential to get your family, roommate, or partner involved. Delegate a room to each of your kids or partners. If they want to live here, they can pitch in.
If you are on your own, put on a juicy true crime podcast, turn on Do Not Disturb on your phone and get to work. If you work ahead of me, KEEP UP THE HUSTLE and use it to your advantage. If you fall behind, take a deep breath and try to catch up to us. This Challenge is ultimately between you and a scrub brush, with some bonus prizes thrown in to motivate you, so chin up and get scrubbing. GOOD LUCK!

Why four weeks?
- If we tried to ram everything into a weekend, you’d get too overwhelmed and give up before you even got started.
- I don’t believe you can deep clean and organize your home in an entire day. This takes time and hard work, but it is worth it. You are effectively detailing your house like you would detail a car.
- I am mindful that you have jobs, families, and lives!
- Each person’s cleaning needs are unique. You may live in a one-bedroom apartment or a ten-bedroom, ten-bath mansion. Who do you think will be done cleaning first?
- Spacing the cleaning out allows you to have the time to do it right. When the next challenge rolls around, I promise it will be much easier because you purged and organized six months ago.
- You will be able to take a mental inventory of all the shit you accumulate in a short period. This helps with our hoarding and spending habits.
- Cleaning is home maintenance. Keep your eyes open while you clean, and list things that need extra attention. Whether it’s time to touch up paint on your baseboards or seal your grout, you will get reacquainted with your home and notice things that need extra care and attention.
The Contest(s):
Our GRAND PRIZE is a full house clean by yours truly (Sarah McAllister) and the GoCleanCo team. We will clean your house like only we can, in every nook and cranny, at the start of the next Cleaning Challenge (in the Fall).
Traveling to the winner’s house has been SO much fun! I love meeting you guys, and it has been amazing to learn your stories and meet your families. Over the years, we have traveled all over Canada and the USA. In March 2025, we are heading to Edmonton, Alberta, to clean our most recent winner’s house.
Starting on March 7, 2025, we have weekly prizes on Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube! I’ve given away vacuums, bedding, gift cards, and some of my favorite things. It’s the time of year I get to play Oprah, and I live for it. Make sure you turn on your notifications and subscribe/follow us on all of our platforms.
HOT TIP: We have fewer followers on some platforms, so your odds may be better at winning on say, Youtube or Facebook. The giveaways are different on each platform. 😉
Anyways, get to the point, Sarah: How do you enter to win the clean?

Comment link below and I’ll send you the link for the Zing and the brush attachment. The Bissell Zing is one of my favourite vacuums that comes in under $100 in both Canada and the US. You cannot beat this price for the suction and power this thing packs. It’s light weight enough to carry around, lift up high (or low) to get into hard to reach places, and the filter is washable, the canister is easy to empty. I pair it with the hair brush (you have to order it separately!) for dusting baseboards, bathrooms, shelves, basically everything. This vacuum is for hard floors only: It does not have a beater bar for carpets. Only downfall it has is that the cord is a little short and the stick floor attachment sometimes falls out so you have to ram it in there. For under $100 you can’t have it all but honestly this is as close as it gets for me.

Sneaky surprise clean for my Mom for Mother’s Day! She deserved this so much, she has scrubbed a lot of houses with me over the years. Many of you may not know this but my Mom has tagged along and helped with cleaning and training the team since day one. She knows the entire team inside and out and we all love to call her “Mom”. She taught me how to clean, how to run a business and most importantly, how to stand on my own two feet. Then I took everything she taught me and turned it into ✨ THIS ✨
Happy Mothers Day Mom @sarahsmomtrudy

By popular request, I tried out the newest the new Mike Washoksi! He did not disappoint. This little pressure washer packs a big punch of power and cleaned up years of grime from this deck in about 20 mins. Now what else can I pressure wash 🤔 😈 Comment: Link and I will send the link to you IN DM!

I used Mr. Clean undiluted, sprayed it on and let it sit for about ten minutes, scrubbed and wiped it off well to rinse. Letting your cleaning products sit is part of the process, they do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. I think many of us get discouraged with cleaning products because we spray and wipe immediately with minimal results…dirt and grease needs time to soften and break down before you can remove it. However, there is always a little bit (or a lot) of elbow grease required, nothing in life is free 🙃
