How to Declutter Using Our FREE Purging Guide

Here at GoCleanCo we have a saying: “You can’t clean what you can’t see”. And what it means is that it’s harder to clean when you have to work around piles of clutter. Moving the piles from one place to another adds so much time to your cleaning. So our best advice is to declutter and purge before you deep clean.

However, not everyone knows the best methods of purging. So we’ve come up with a process (and PDF) to make it doable and stress-free.
Get the free PDF here.

First, it’s important to take it one room, and one area at a time. If you attempt to purge your whole house all at once, you will become overwhelmed, give up, and leave your space worse off than when you started. The purging guide has a thorough checklist of spaces in your home with common items that you can get rid of while decluttering. We’ve included tips and tricks to help you to be effective in your purging efforts.

Second, you need a decision-making process. We’ve developed a flow chart to help you along the way. If it isn’t clear whether you should keep an item or not, ask yourself the questions in the flow chart to help you decide.

Purging Flow Chart

We’ve included this flow chart in our free Purging Guide

Using the flow chart and checklist, make your way through your home, deciding which items to keep, store, donate or toss.

Once you decide to get rid of something, DON’T LOOK BACK. And purge regularly because sometimes things don’t hold the same meaning as they did 6 months ago. Or you might find that you still haven’t used an item that you were waffling over 3 months ago.

Be ruthless. You can do this.
