A Ralph Lauren Christmas at My House

For the last 6 years, my team has come over to help me decorate for Christmas. It’s one of my favorite GoCleanCo traditions. There’s coffee, Baileys, and more laughter than actual progress for the first few hours, but somehow it always comes together beautifully. Decorating as a team has become our unofficial holiday kickoff, and honestly, it’s the best kind of team building, a chance to bring our favorite Christmas decorating ideas to life. It’s creative, cozy, and full of sparkle with the occasional glitter disaster. Remember tinsel gate 2023? We’ve still found bits of tinsel in the garlands this year…never again.

This year, it took us three full days to pull this off. We spent one day a couple weeks ago going through my old decor to see what we could use this year and organizing (USA | Canada) it properly because it was driving me crazy. I also sorted anything that I wanted to donate: the best time to do this pre Christmas so another family can use it over the holidays, not in January.

The Tree Saga

This year started with a little bit of heartbreak. My old tree finally kicked the bucket. After years of faithful service, she was done. A friend of mine was happy to re-string it and give it new life, so I passed it along. That meant I got to bring home the viral Home Depot Grand Duchess Tree 9’ (USA | Canada), and it truly lives up to the hype. Full, elegant, perfectly pre-lit, and absolutely gorgeous. This thing has 3,400 lights, I think you can see it from the MOON.

The Theme: Ralph Lauren Christmas

This year’s theme is Ralph Lauren Christmas, which is honestly just a classic Christmas theme (but Gen Z needs to rebrand everything so it seems cool again on Tik Tok). I realized I had 85% of the stuff already so it was easy to work with what I had. Think deep reds, burgundys, navy, hunter green, velvet bows, shiny baubles, tartan plaid, roses, and just a hint of sparkle. It’s that classic, cozy, timeless look that feels like a country estate meets luxury lodge. To pull the whole look together, I even added a few Ralph Lauren–inspired prints from Etsy. They’re an easy, affordable way to bring those rich tones and vintage textures into your décor without spending a fortune.

Christmas Decorating Ideas: Shop Smart, Then Shop Amazon

Before tackling the full Ralph Lauren Christmas transformation, I did what I always do: went through what I already have. You’d be amazed what you can reuse with a new theme in mind. I pulled out old ribbons, garlands, ornaments, and candles, mixing and matching until it started to come together.

Then came the thrifting. The team hit up a few second-hand stores and found so many plaid textiles, including table runners and scarves. If you’ve never thrifted your Christmas décor before, this is your sign. It’s sustainable, affordable, and half the fun is the treasure hunt.

And when it came time to fill in the gaps, Dollarama came in clutch. Their glittery oversized ornaments added the perfect touch of sparkle without blowing the budget.

The Amazon Finds

Of course, I did a little damage on Amazon too. My team and I especially loved:

  • Velcro straps (USA | Canada) to attach garland to your railings without damage.
  • Red Berry Garland (USA | Canada): Perfect for weaving through the tree, wrapping around garlands, and even on my chandeliers for that pop of red. It added that old-fashioned Christmas charm I can’t get enough of.
  • Velvet Bows and Ornaments: Rich, soft, and elegant. We used them all over the tree and even on my new gallery wall for that touch of whimsy.

The Final Look

(See it on Instagram)

When it all came together, the garlands, textures, sparkle, and plaid made it feel like Christmas in a cozy mountain lodge. The best part is that we created it with a mix of old favorites, thrifted gems, and a few fresh finds that will last for years to come.

This year’s Ralph Lauren Christmas theme feels elegant but lived-in, festive but familiar. Exactly the kind of classic Christmas decor that feels like home.
