How to Remove Purple Shampoo Stains From Bathtubs, Countertops, or Sinks
Let’s talk about a little cleaning mishap any blonde has been guilty of—going a little too hard with the purple shampoo. Whether it’s dripped onto your tub, sink, or even a white countertop, that purple tinge is NOT the vibe we’re going for. But don’t stress—I’ve got three tried-and-true methods to remove that purple shampoo stain and get your surfaces looking fresh again!
Method 1: Hot Water & a Cloth (for fresh stains)
If you’ve just noticed the mess (good job, eagle eyes!), your best bet is to act FAST. Grab a microfiber cloth, run it under hot water, and start wiping. Sometimes, all you need is a little heat and some elbow grease to loosen that dye before it sets in. If it’s stubborn, it’s probably too late. See the methods below!
Method 2: Bar Keepers Friend (for stubborn stains)
Ah, my beloved Bar Keepers Friend®—an MVP in the GoCleanCo cleaning caddy. This works wonders on sinks, tubs, and solid countertops. Squirt a little bit of the liquid (or use the powdered version and add water to make a paste) on the stain, grab a damp cloth or sponge, and start scrubbing in circular motions. Let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse thoroughly. That purple hue? GONE.
Method 3: Bleach-Soaked Cloth (for deep-set stains)
If the stain has been sitting for a while and isn’t budging, it’s time to bring out the big guns—bleach. Place a microfiber cloth or paper towel on the stain and dump some bleach directly on the stain. The cloth or paper towel helps the bleach sit on the stain so it doesn’t run away. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, keeping an eye on it. When time’s up, remove the cloth and wipe the area down with hot water to neutralize any leftover bleach. Boom—good as new!

Final Tips:
- Always do a spot test before using bleach or Bar Keepers Friend® on surfaces, and read your labels. NO BLEACH ON MARBLE!
- Rinse in between steps always. No mixing chemicals here!
- Rinse everything thoroughly after cleaning to avoid residue buildup.
- Prevention is key! Rinse your sink/tub after every purple shampoo session to avoid stains in the first place.
There you have it. Three simple ways to get rid of purple shampoo stains. Now go and clean with confidence! 💪✨

Comment link below and I’ll send you the link for the Zing and the brush attachment. The Bissell Zing is one of my favourite vacuums that comes in under $100 in both Canada and the US. You cannot beat this price for the suction and power this thing packs. It’s light weight enough to carry around, lift up high (or low) to get into hard to reach places, and the filter is washable, the canister is easy to empty. I pair it with the hair brush (you have to order it separately!) for dusting baseboards, bathrooms, shelves, basically everything. This vacuum is for hard floors only: It does not have a beater bar for carpets. Only downfall it has is that the cord is a little short and the stick floor attachment sometimes falls out so you have to ram it in there. For under $100 you can’t have it all but honestly this is as close as it gets for me.

Sneaky surprise clean for my Mom for Mother’s Day! She deserved this so much, she has scrubbed a lot of houses with me over the years. Many of you may not know this but my Mom has tagged along and helped with cleaning and training the team since day one. She knows the entire team inside and out and we all love to call her “Mom”. She taught me how to clean, how to run a business and most importantly, how to stand on my own two feet. Then I took everything she taught me and turned it into ✨ THIS ✨

I used Mr. Clean undiluted, sprayed it on and let it sit for about ten minutes, scrubbed and wiped it off well to rinse. Letting your cleaning products sit is part of the process, they do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. I think many of us get discouraged with cleaning products because we spray and wipe immediately with minimal results…dirt and grease needs time to soften and break down before you can remove it. However, there is always a little bit (or a lot) of elbow grease required, nothing in life is free 🙃
