Top 6 Cleaning Tips From the Pros
Our goal is to teach our audience how to clean properly and efficiently. We are confident we can teach you well enough that you could come join the team! As a reminder of how we like to do things around here, here are our top 6 tips for cleaning like the pros.

- Purge. Cleaning becomes instantly easier when your space has less clutter (you can’t clean the floor if you can’t see it). It feels so good to get rid of stuff you don’t need.
- Vacuum everything. Start by vacuuming every surface with a horse hair brush before you go in with any products. Getting rid of dust and hair with a vacuum is much easier than wiping it up wet, and ensures you aren’t just kicking it up into the air for it to settle somewhere else.
- Move everything. When deep cleaning, like we do, it’s essential to move everything (including furniture) to ensure you’re cleaning every inch of your space.
- Top to bottom, left to right. If you decide to dust your ceiling fan after you’ve cleaned the rest of the room… Well you might just ruin all your hard work. Start up high and let the dust fall down to where you haven’t cleaned yet. Move left to right around the room so you don’t miss a spot.
- Identify the dirt. Different types of dirt require different cleaners. There’s dust, grease, hard water, and mold, to name a few. Just using a Lysol wipe on everything won’t cut it. Read your labels and use the correct products.
- Let the product sit. Depending on how dirty your surface is, sometimes the product needs time to work. You may also need to use the product more than once, as caked-on dirt comes off in layers. If something doesn’t come clean the first time, spray, scrub, rinse, repeat.
Happy scrubbing; remember, it doesn’t all need to be done in one day. We clean efficiently so we don’t have to spend every day cleaning. If you want more tips like this, subscribe to our newsletter here.

I used Mr. Clean undiluted, sprayed it on and let it sit for about ten minutes, scrubbed and wiped it off well to rinse. Letting your cleaning products sit is part of the process, they do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. I think many of us get discouraged with cleaning products because we spray and wipe immediately with minimal results…dirt and grease needs time to soften and break down before you can remove it. However, there is always a little bit (or a lot) of elbow grease required, nothing in life is free 🙃

Recipe:
1 gallon of hot water in a bucket
1 teaspoon of powered tide laundry detergent
Microfibre cloth or a ripped up old towel—you need a cloth with texture to get into the grooves of the paint but do not scrub too hard or scrape because you’ll chip the paint.
Wipe the walls down and let it soften the boogers/food/dog slobber, then repeat. The hot water will help soften the crud, the tide will lift the dirt.
No need to rinse.
