5 Things You Should Clean Every Day

At House Work the last thing we want to do is overwhelm you. Cleaning and maintaining your home is something that everyone can do without having a mile-long list of tasks to complete every day. 

That being said, there are a few key things that you can do each day that will make the biggest impact. If you have our House Work Calendar, you may already know that we recommend you make beds, pick up clutter, wipe kitchen counters, eating areas and sink, vacuum the kitchen, and run the dishwasher. Here’s why:

1. Make your bed. 

Starting the day by making your bed sets the intention for your day. Accomplishing that one small task can inspire you to move on to the next task and so on. Plus, who doesn’t love climbing into a crisp, un-rumpled bed at the end of the day? 

2. Pick up clutter.

A quick 10 minute tidy each night is often all it takes to keep up with the build-up of clutter. Get the kids in on this task, it’s an easy one for them to accomplish. If they brought it out, they should put it away. In the long run, this will help teach them to be responsible for their things. Even if your home isn’t super clean, a tidy home is always better than a cluttered one.

3. Wipe kitchen counters, eating areas and sink. 

The last 3 items on our list are all part of resetting the kitchen for the day. It goes without saying that we do NOT want to prepare or eat food that has been on unwashed surfaces. After each meal (or at the very least at the end of each day), grab your favorite product and take 5 minutes to properly wipe down your counters, table, and sink.

4. Vacuum kitchen.

There is no way around it, kitchens are just crumbly places; especially if you have kids in the house. It’s a good idea to deal with those crumbs on the daily, no one wants mice or ants in the house. One of the main rules around here is: “Vacuums only. No brooms allowed.” Brooms just kick up dust and move it around. We’re pulling out a vacuum for this job.

5. Run the dishwasher.

Nothing makes a kitchen look dirty faster than piles of dirty dishes. If you have a dishwasher, running it every night is the easiest way to keep up with that task. Any way I can wake up to something cleaned for me; count me in. Of course if you don’t have a dishwasher, you will have to tackle this task the manual way.

These 5 things can make a massive difference in the level of filth in your home. If you keep up with the care and cleanliness of your house, it will not be as daunting when you need to deep clean.
