5 Things You Should Clean Every 3 Months
If you want your house to stay spotless, there are a few things you need to deep clean seasonally. Set reminders to clean the following as the seasons change.

When you buy through our links, we may earn a small commission.
1. Washing machine deep clean.
Let’s spin the dirt and grime out of your machine. Clean clothes start with a clean washing machine, but over time it can get gross inside from soap residue and mold if not cleaned regularly. Deep cleaning is important and this article will give you the full instructions. Additionally, you can use Tide® Washing Machine Cleaner monthly as it will aid in your deep cleaning routine.
Pro Tip: Keep your machine door slightly open in between washes to prevent mildew/mold growth.

2. Furnace filter.
Check your furnace filter every three months, and vacuum it out or replace as needed. Having a clean filter ensures your home has better air quality, increased efficiency and will extend the lifespan of your furnace.

3. Hood fan.
Hood fans can become greasy, sticky and even dangerous if not cleaned regularly. Your kitchen needs proper ventilation and having a clogged fan does not promote that. Grease and other flammable substances build up and it can be a fire hazard. Use Mr. Clean® (which is a great grease cutter) or Dawn® Powerwash to clean it up. More help can be found in this article.

4. Windows – inside.
Whether it’s kid fingerprints or slobbery dog noses making messes on the glass, windows can get dirty quickly without you even realizing it. So take some time at least every 3 months to look at each window inside your home. Wipe away smudges and streaks with Windex® and a paper towel (or an Aquablade® if you have one). Don’t forget the window sill and tracks! For detailed instructions, refer to this handy article.

5. Throw blankets and pillows.
When was the last time you washed your cozy blankets and pillow covers? We’re not talking about the ones on your beds as those should be washed often, but the covers on your couch or chair pillows and throw blankets. Pick a day to collect them all and give them a wash. Then you’re all set for the next movie night or cozy snuggle by the fire.

These 5 quarterly tasks are things that you may not have thought to clean, but it will make such a difference in the overall cleanliness of your home. Start the next season with a fresh slate.

How to remove set in sunscreen stains:
Steps:
1. Lestoil straight onto the stain
2. Rub it in
3. Let it sit overnight
4. Wash in the hottest water the fabric can take
Check it before it goes in the dryer. Not gone? Do it again.
For the record: I think that if the sunscreen hadn’t been washed, dried and set in already, the dawn power wash would have lifted it! So try that first if you have a fresh sunscreen stain — always treat stains immediately and allow the stain remover time to work.
